The 2010 calendar year is quickly winding to a close. Over at PokerTableRatings.com, however, the action is heating up, as voting for the Player of the Year awards has opened. You have until December 31st to cast your vote for Player of the Year in 10 categories and you’re allowed to vote for as many players as you feel deserve it.

There’s a lot at stake for the winners. First place in the Player of the Year voting in each category when the polls close will receive a custom PokerTableRatings.com profile with a special theme, picture, and badge signifying the win. The winner will also receive a 50-word bio in a future edition of Bluff Magazine and an opportunity to create training videos for Drag the Bar. Depending upon the stakes, the winner could create videos at $2,000 a pop, which is no small change. The minimum payout is $150 per video.

The winner also gets a one-year subscription to PokerTableRatings.com Gold worth nearly $400 and a Player of the Year jacket. It’s cold throughout much of North America, so the latter prize could come in handy.

Second place in each category takes home a badge in their PokerTableRatings.com profile along with an honorable mention in Bluff Magazine. They’ll also get a one-year subscription to PokerTableRatings.com Silver worth over $150 and a $50 Amazon.com gift card to buy what they please.

Third place in each Player of the Year voting category will earn a badge, an honorable mention in Bluff Magazine, a three-month subscription to PokerTableRatings.com Silver worth $50, and a $25 Amazon.com gift card to put toward Christmas presents that were left out of this year’s stocking. Fourth through tenth places in each category receive a badge and a mention in Bluff.

Now that we’ve whet your whistle, how do you vote? You’ll use your Facebook account to cast as many votes as you want; however, you can only vote each player into one category. Voting will come to a close on December 31st at the end of the day Central Time.

The PokerTableRatings.com Player of the Year voting is divided into Texas Hold’em and Omaha. Within each are five separate stakes: Nosebleed, High, Mid, Low, and Micro. At the top of the Nosebleed Hold’em leaderboard at the time of writing was Dan “JungleMan12” Cates, who is competing against Tom “durrrr” Dwan in the ongoing Durrrr Challenge.

Speaking of Dwan, he’s third in the Nosebleed Hold’em category alongside players like Phil Ivey and Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond. Interestingly, Galfond is perched atop the Nosebleed Omaha voting at the time of writing, leading PokerStars pro “Isildur1.” Dwan, Ivey, and Cates all grace the Nosebleed Omaha leaderboard as well.

“Isildur1” leads the Omaha high-stakes voting despite having negative lifetime earnings in the category according to PokerTableRatings.com. The mystery Swede is edging out “MrSweets28.” “MuckeDBoY” leads the high-stakes Hold’em Player of the Year voting, but has quite a few brand name pros hot on his heels including Team PokerStars Online pro Randy “nanonoko” Lew, Dwan, and Cates. Each player’s total winnings in each stake are given to help voters decide who is truly deserving of the title. The number of votes cast is also displayed.

At the time of writing, here were the leaders in each category in the PokerTableRatings.com Player of the Year voting:
